British Values

Our Expectations At The Keystone Academy, we have high expectations for our students. We encourage them to work hard, participate fully in school life, and make good choices. By setting an example for each other and judging themselves against these expectations, our students develop values of selflessness, self-assurance, and success.

Through collaboration and mutual respect, we create a culture that promotes British values and prepares students to become caring, responsible, and tolerant adults.

CHILD CENTERED

What do we do?

At The Keystone Academy, we prioritise the individual needs and well-being of every student. Our curriculum is designed to be exciting and purposeful, celebrating the diversity of neurodivergent learners. We believe in nurturing the whole child, preparing them for success not only academically but also in life beyond school.

DEMOCRACY

What do we do?

We actively involve students in decision-making processes through our student voice. Our pupils are integral to how we make our decisions and are consulted at each step e.g. partaking in a student panels, completing quizzes and more. Students have regular opportunities, empowering them to shape not just our school, but our local community.

DIVERSITY

What do we do?

We celebrate and promote diversity through curriculum content, assemblies, and cultural events. Our students learn about different faiths and beliefs, fostering understanding, tolerance, and compassion.

STOPPING EXTREMISM

What do we do?

The Keystone Academy maintains a zero-tolerance approach to extremist behaviour and actively safeguards students against radicalisation. Through education, awareness, and vigilant monitoring, we ensure the safety and well-being of our school community.

MUTUAL RESPECT

What do we do?

Our curriculum support students to develop important characteristics that promote mutual respect. We encourage the three Ss. Selflessness, self-assurance, and success. Each S is contributed and build on in our forms and enrichment opportunities so that students learn to appreciate the impact of their actions on themselves and others.

RULE OF LAW

What do we do?

Our behaviour policy encourages students to have respect for laws and rules through a nurturing approach and also having firm and clear boundaries. Our authentic relationships ensure staff can implement these expectations in a meaningful way that our student understand. External visits and partnerships reinforce the importance of upholding the rule of law.
