Statement of Provision 

The Keystone Academy is a SEN school for pupils with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. 

 The Keystone Academy provides places focusing on supporting pupils with SEMH needs, with the addition of neurodivergent needs, which can either be diagnosed or on the pathway for assessment.  Whilst SEMH is our school’s designation of SEND, many of our pupils have additional needs that fall within the other main categories of need, including: Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, Physical and Sensory. 

 With an ambitious curriculum and support model, we aim to prepare our children for bright and meaningful futures, with the courage, confidence, resilience and skills to flourish in the world. 

Admissions

The Keystone  Academy is a Special School which provides 120 places for children in the age range 4 – 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and an EHCP. 

 For a child to be accepted on roll, the school must be named by a Local Authority in the child’s EHCP. 

A pupil will be admitted to The Keystone Academy: 

 If he or she falls within the terms of the current approval for a place within the school. This is currently when a child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) identifying a need for a specialist provision, and has a social, emotional and / or mental health need or diagnosis. 

AND 

  • When Shropshire Local Authority, or a neighbouring one, following consultation with parents, school and any relevant professionals who are involved in the assessment, agree that the child’s needs are most suitably met at Keystone Academy. 

Parents or carers wishing their child to benefit from our provision, should ask their Local Authority to consider naming our school in their child’s EHCP.  For details on the process of gaining a place at Keystone, please see the Admissions Policy.
